Privacy Policy

The short version: we ask only for what we need to book your vehicle in, we use it only to look after that booking, and we never sell it.

At a glance

  • We only collect what you type into our booking form, or tell us when you call or visit.
  • We use it to look after your booking and the work on your vehicle. No mailing lists, no advertising.
  • No advertising trackers. We never sell, rent or trade your information.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete it. Just call (613) 938-1404.

Who we are

Brothers Auto Mechanic Inc. is an independent, family-run auto repair shop just outside Cornwall, Ontario. When this policy says “we”, “us” or “our”, that’s who it means. It explains what information we collect through this website and when you contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us. When you send a booking request through the form on our booking page, we receive:

  • the services you pick, like brakes, tires or a safety certificate
  • your vehicle’s year, make and model
  • your preferred day and time
  • your name and phone number
  • your email address, if you choose to add it
  • anything you write in the notes box, like a noise or a warning light you’ve noticed

When you call, visit or bring your vehicle in, we keep what any repair shop needs to do the job: your name, how to reach you, your vehicle’s details and a record of the work.

No advertising trackers. This website doesn’t use advertising trackers, and we don’t build profiles or sell your information. The site does remember one or two display settings in your own browser, such as whether you paused the video on our home page. Those stay on your device and never reach us.

Like most websites, ours runs on a hosting service that may keep basic technical logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, to keep the site secure and working.

How we use it

We use your information for one thing: looking after your booking and your vehicle. That means:

  • calling you back to confirm a day and time
  • asking a question about your vehicle before you come in
  • getting in touch while your vehicle is with us, for example to go over an estimate before any work starts
  • keeping a record of your booking and the work we did

We won’t add you to a mailing list or send you advertising. Only the people who need your information to look after your booking can see it, and we don’t share it with anyone else unless the job or the law requires it. For example, Ontario safety inspections are recorded digitally with the Ministry of Transportation, and when a vehicle passes, the owner is emailed a confirmation of the certificate.

How it’s sent

When you press Request booking, your request reaches our inbox in one of two ways, depending on how the form is set up:

  • Through your own email app. Your device opens a ready-to-send email addressed to us. Nothing leaves your device until you press Send.
  • Through a secure form-delivery service. The form sends your request over an encrypted connection to a service that forwards it to our inbox. That service handles it under its own privacy policy.

If online booking isn’t switched on yet, the form asks you to call us instead, and nothing is sent.

The map on our contact page comes from Google, and it only loads if you choose to load it. Until you press Load interactive map, nothing is sent to Google. Once it loads, Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab) applies.

Links to other sites, like Google Maps for directions and reviews, Facebook and BestProsInTown, take you off our website. Those sites are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it: for your booking, for your vehicle’s service records, and to meet our legal and tax obligations. Canadian tax rules generally require businesses to keep their records for six years. When we no longer need it, we delete it or securely destroy it.

Your choices

It’s your information. You can ask us to:

  • show you the information we have about you
  • correct anything that’s wrong or out of date
  • delete it, unless we’re required to keep it (for example, invoices we must keep for tax purposes)
  • stop contacting you about a booking request you no longer need

To ask, call us at (613) 938-1404 or stop by the shop, Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. We may ask a question or two to make sure it’s really you before we share or change anything. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can, within the time Canadian privacy law allows (generally 30 days).

Canadian privacy law

We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. We’d like the chance to make it right.

You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca (opens in a new tab).

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date below. The version posted here is always the current one.
